Reduce DFM Cylinder Deactivations By 95%+

Based on our testing and official testing from GM, the DFM system deactivates cylinders over 1,500 times per cylinder in a short 15-minute drive — operating with less than all 8 cylinders approx. 60% of the time.

Our DFM Disabler automatically activates within 3-5 minutes of driving and keeps your truck in V8 mode 100% of the time once it activates, even disabling zero-cylinder mode while coasting.

This reduces overall deactivations by over 95%, improving performance and protecting your engine.

Improved Reliability & Lifter Protection

By drastically reducing DFM deactivations, our Boost Disabler improves reliability and longevity of your lifters, protecting you from the dreaded lifter failure issues plaguing GM's V8 engines.

While our device prevents DFM from engaging during regular driving, it still allows your engine’s components — including lifters and oiling systems — to activate briefly at the beginning of each trip. This design helps keep everything lubricated and functioning properly, avoiding concerns of sticky oil from long-term inactivity.

Why Choose Boost?

Our device was engineered, developed, and tested in-house, and is proudly manufactured in the USA. Every Boost unit is built by an ISO-certified specialist based in Arizona.

Plus, our support team is the same team that designed it — giving you expert-level help and insight you won't find with overseas knockoffs.

Simple OBD Plug-and-Play

Unlike other disablers that plug into the engine control module (ECM), the Boost device installs safely and conveniently via the OBD-II port. This makes it easier to remove before dealership visits, and ensures no risk to your vehicle’s warranty status.

Near Zero Battery Drain

Our newest Boost DFM Disabler draws just 0.10mA when the vehicle is off — a 7x improvement over our already low-drain first-generation model.

You can leave it plugged in with total peace of mind.

Made in the USA

From design to delivery, every Boost disabler is 100% American-made. We're a small, US-based team building products we believe in, with quality and service you can trust.

  • 2021-2024 Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon

Our device does not currently support Global A vehicles with 10-speed transmissions which includes 2019-2022 trucks and 2020 SUVs. We are currently working on a unit for these models.

For any vehicles with DFM that are part of the Global A platform, ie. pre-2022.5 trucks and pre-2021 SUVs please see our Blue AFM/DFM Disabler which is compatible with these models excluding 10-speed transmission,

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any questions that aren't answered below don't hesitate to reach out via our contact us page

What is Global B? What Vehicles Does it Fit?

"Global B" refers to the software and messaging architecture that the engine's ECM uses. GM switched to this system in the 2020's and due to new encryption and security challenges our previous Blue device does not work on newer models. Our Tan DFM Disabler only works with the new Global B vehicles which includes:

  • 2022.5-2025 Silverado & Sierra (these are also commonly known as the "refresh" models)
  • 2021-2024 Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban (this device does not work on 2025 models)

Does the Disabler Activate Immediately?

Due to the new software architecture, it is not possible to disable the DFM system until the vehicle reaches 40mph.

For our Boost device to begin working the vehicle must reach 40mph for a few seconds and once this happens the device activates and begins working 100% of the time.

Therefore, the DFM system will still activate a handful of times every driving cycle but this helps keep all the system components freshly oiled to prevent issues with sticky oil.

How can I tell if it's working?

Unfortunately GM removed the dashboard indicator that tells you when the system is activated or not so there is no way to tell via the dashboard that the device is working. The only way to tell is via listening to the exhaust note and "feeling" it which is difficult to do.

If the light on the device is green and is staying green then the device is working. We have hundreds of hours testing this device in the field and can assure you that it is working properly when the green light is solid. If you notice the green light is not staying on then please contact us for troubleshooting help.

Does it disable auto stop/start?

Our Boost DFM does not fully disable auto start/stop. It does, however, significantly reduce the amount of times it kicks in. You might experience it kicking in one or two times during a driving cycle but 90%+ of the time this system will be disabled. If you notice it continuing to kick in then just press the button on the console to manually turn it off if it bothers you. Start/stop kicking in does not affect the functionality of our device.

Will this void my warranty?

No, this device is untraceable so simply unplug it before your trip to the dealer and there will be no evidence it was ever used.

What does the LED light mean?

If the LED light is a solid green then the device is working! If the light does not come on or comes on temporarily then turns off this means your OBD port fuse might be blow, the device might be defective, or it is not compatible with your vehicle so please reach out to us if this is the case so we can help you troubleshoot the issue.

What will it do to my gas mileage?

A lot of users notice no mileage differences and some actually notice improvements. The constant hesitation and switching in and out of the 17 different cylinder modes can decrease fuel mileage around the city. On pure highway driving you will likely notice some minor fuel economy decreases, but nothing major.

Does it reprogram my ECU?

No, our device simply communicates with the ECU by sending messages to it, not changing any of the factory programming.

Will it pass emissions testing?

This device won't have any impact on emissions testing, but you should remove it ahead of testing anyways as the emissions test usually require an OBDII test anyways.

Will it fix my car that already has a failed or collapsed lifter?

No. A collapsed lifter is a mechanical issue and will need to be fixed with a new lifter, unfortunately. This device will help prevent lifter issues but will not fix an issue that has already occurred.

Does it cause any problems with the myChevrolet app?

No. This device works perfectly fine with the app.

Does the product have warranty?

We offer a lifetime warranty on all of our Boost Disablers.

Does it add horsepower?

Disabling DFM doesn't add horsepower but it will give you access to all your power when you need it. There is a hesitation when DFM is activated and you put your foot on the floor as it switches back to V8 mode. This will reduce that hesitation but it won't add horsepower per se.

Install Instructions

Plug-and-Play Install

Step 1: Find the OBDII port & plug the Boost DFM Disabler into the OBDII port, you can plug it in with the vehicle turned on or off. If the vehicle is off it will blink a few times and then stay off - if it is turned on then it will blink and turn solid green after a few seconds.

Step 2: Once the LED light has turned a solid green, the device is properly communicating with the vehicle and you are ready to drive!

Our device has very low power draw and can remain plugged in for weeks at a time without draining your battery, but if you don't plan on driving your vehicle for a while we would advise unplugging it.

Emissions

Our device is designed to comply with applicable emissions standards and is sold with the understanding that it may operate within the legal emissions framework as outlined in the EPA’s Tampering Policy dated November 23, 2020. We have reasonable basis to believe that our device functions within EPA emissions standards and therefore is legally allowed to be sold and used on road vehicles.

Please note that we do not have an active CARB EO making this product not legal for use in the State of California until our EO number has been issued. It is the end responsibility of the user to ensure that their vehicle remains compliant with all local and federal emissions regulations.
